The UK Arctic-Antarctic Partnership (UKAAP) is a community led initiative established in 2014, aimed at bringing together researchers across a full range of disciplines who are interested in the polar regions. UKAAP also serves as the UK National Committee for IPY 2032-2033. Although not a funding body it is tasked with ensuring that there is a strong and collective voice for polar research and encourages new engagement.
The Partnership is supported by a Steering Committee which relies on its voluntary membership for all its activity and engagement. Members generally serve a three year term, with the option of a second term. There are two in-person meetings a year and a small number of other ad hoc requests.
A call for approximately 10 new members is currently open, and will close on 2oth December 2026. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from people with interests in:
• Polar geoengineering
• Polar geopolitics
• Palaeoclimate
• Polar glaciers excluding ice sheets
• Polar ecology/biology
